Anything Fabric Fashions with a Flair Creations by Geoff Geoff@AnythingFabric.net And the Sharbot Lake Class |
Anything Fabric is a vibrant fashion design studio located at the very centre of the universe.
We have Designers, Stylists, Dancers, Potters, Writers, Actors, Drama specialists, Musicians, Dreamers, Artists, Film makers, therapists, Illustrators and Poets. Mandy, Dancer/Designer, in the promotions department can be contacted regarding sign-off and release forms for use of these images by the subjects. Leah, Observer/Sales genius, has been specializing with inventive & creative repairs or alterations to blue jeans. Leah has recently planned and done a creative & profitable raffle of pants that do not even exist yet! Kelsea is definitely the one to talk to for mixed media creations such as her steel skirt. Kelsea's active imagination keeps her in the later hours of the studio designing and making clothing that doesn't always have a category, but as always redefines her own evolving femininity. Mandy loves intensely saturated colours with lots of bold texture and is not likely to ever design anything timidly. Jessica H has made a textile book for her children to be and took charge of the organization of the last show. We all know how hard that is and hope for her safe return to the team. The more diverse the team the harder it seems to be. Jessica N, wearing the piano dress was also the designer/maker of retro 60's top in red, black and gold nylon/lycra, which means she has made a great swimming shirt for next summer's collection. Jessica is also famous for having woven her own hair into a live textile on a tabletop loom. Aimee has become the queen of monogramming as well as pictorial embroidery and is also helping with the "name/price that outfit project in cyberspace". Samantha has been our stylist on several occasions as well as being a model and accessory designer. Samantha, who is very choosey about her accessories has designed and made colourful handbags. Maggie, Designer/stylist/musician, was really helpful getting Michelle dressed for her trip to the south seas. Alexandra and Jesse are most often working as a team on apparel that has no regard for the conventions of function as we have known them to exist in clothing. Alex's harness and bum sock are still in the early stages of promotion and presentation. Rebecca has a quiet competence when it comes to fashion illustration and design. Rolling ideas of shapes around in three dimensional space goes on all the time for Rebecca as she draws on her strong connection with the era of elegant glamour. Rebecca is willing to extend her design skills to interiors and stage sets as well. Stephanie F, Director/Designer/fabricator and prototype maker, is co-directing Friday's show. We look forward to her continued clarity of vision as well as her creations. Chelsea is no stranger to making sergers work, doesn't get angry, just fixes them and moves on quite quietly making her traffic stopping clothes and backpacks. Kelly has been making an effort to make a serger be threaded and has been a great help preparing stock. Amanda, maker of comforters and blankets put all her effort into making the past show be energised. Paris, modelling the spinning little black wrap dress, has her own enthusiastic ideas of design and fashion sense. Paris has specialized in custom costume commissions. Laura is often doing field research and cannot be reached. We always look forward to what will come of her distant fashion investigations. A mini denim creation seems to be arriving. Larissa is still famous for making the most petite tiger prom dress that was featured in the window display and admired by many. Seahara has recently trimmed an asymmetrical wrap top, currently on display, that is sure to stop traffic with the contrasted teal and black cotton/lycra blend. Chloe, author of the tiny silk minidress, among many other creations, has her model Katie presenting her work for her. Stephannie R has continued to be a fabulous, capable and relaxed model for anything the studio produces. Anne, the designer's muse always looks great in anything. Glenda’s insightful, well considered and calm observations are always welcome. Glenda solves complex interpersonal issues with such compassion and understated modesty that people don’t even know she does what she does, but we are lucky to have her doing it. Geoffrey is the studio designer/director and arrives with an accumulated background from St.Lawrence College, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Ontario College of Art and Design, Queens University, Ottawa School of Art, Richard Robinson Design Academy but most importantly with the generous support and acceptance from the staff and students of Sharbot Lake High School, without which, this unique, beautiful studio could not have happened or be sustained as it is. Special thanks to all support staff who keep the building running and especially Brenda, Charlie, Judy, Sheri and Angie for their good humour in the never-ending cleanup. Adrian Photographer/Screenwriter and Janet, Therapist/Photographer have been very generous with their gifts and abilities in recording these events. Tom, our philanthropic website host, designer and technical director, lends his own kiln fired artistry to presenting this studio from his satellite location in Dorval Quebec. |
